Hello Friends and Fellow Fishermen,

Spring fishing is just around the corner.  The water is warming up and trout are already showing up on the flats.  The west flats around the mouth of the pass is the most productive area right now.  Down east, out from Black Rock, mackeral (Spanish) have been caught.  Live shrimp is the best bait.  Artificial will start pretty soon.  In the next 10 days to 2 weeks, fishing season will bust wide open.  

Here at Shell Island we understand the economic pressure everyone is under.  Due to the current economic slowdown, we understand that money is being handled conservatively by all.  We were forced to increase the price of rental boats by $10 per day.  All other prices have remained the same including motel, cabins, and park models.  We are trying to keep the cost of fishing down as much as possible.
