Mid September Fishing News 9/22/09
Well folks here we are in the middle of September and the fish are doing exactly what they are supposed to do, gathering up close in to come into the rivers and creeks when the water cools down. The water temperature is still in the low 80's with some boats reporting 78 and 79 surface temps. This is very good. We had a whole lot of rain this past week - in excess of 7". As the old timers say (myself included) the trout like the sweet water. Reds are also making a good showing.
One of our fishing guides, Kenny, carried Pate and Shelly Rowell of Macon out for a day of fishing. They caught 14 nice trout, 3 grown reds, 1 blue fish and 1 white trout. Shelly said the only reason for such a good catch was her because she caught the most. Pate said that was the best way to insure another fishing trip.
A large and interesting group, Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club/Legacy Vets, gathered for their annual ride in the POW/MIA rally in Tallahassee. Most were from central and southern Florida. And yes, just about all were riding Harleys. Boy you sure could here them coming and going but once the sun went down you never heard them. One thing I can say is, these boys and girls sure know how to have a good time but also show respect for everyone around them.
We also had the Wildman bunch down. Wildman and Lee from around Atlanta, Jack and Mike from Smith's Station, AL. and a bunch more from all over. They fished in the rain and did real good Friday but not so hot Saturday. I guess that's why they call it fishing instead of catching.
Until next time, tight lines and good fishing,
Allen
