Shell Island Fish Camp News - September 2009
Hello again from Shell Island. No, I did not break my arm or anything like that. There has not been much to write about. Water temperature has been around 88 to 89 degrees and we've had lots of rain. Trout don't like to bite when the water is warm. Also the fishermen have trouble with the heat and the rain. A lot of smaller trout are being caught but not many keepers. Down east outside the stake line in 10' to 14' of water fishing the gulp on the bottom is doing the best. Quite a few mackerel and blue fish have been caught.
All I can say is to be patient. In late September the water will cool down and you better be ready. The trout and reds will turn on then. If the weather holds (no hurricanes) we are expecting a great fall fishing season.
So until next time. Tight lines and good fishing,
Allen
PS I almost forgot. We had a great 4th of July celebration. We had between 300 and 400 people here. We had a live band, fireworks and all sorts of fun. Thanks to all who helped us make it possible. Next year we hope it will be bigger and better.
